National Institute for Health and Care Excellence - NICE
Publication date:
04 September 2015

This quality standard covers preventing further cardiovascular disease after a myocardial infarction (heart attack). It includes assessment and cardiac rehabilitation. It describes high-quality care in priority areas for improvement.

It does not cover statin treatment for secondary prevention, which is included in NICE’s quality standard for cardiovascular risk assessment and lipid modification. Diagnosis and management of myocardial infarction are covered in NICE’s quality standard for acute coronary syndromes in adults.

How to use NICE quality standards and how we develop them

Quality standards help you improve the quality of care you provide or commission. Find out how to use quality standards and how we develop them. We check our quality standards every August to make sure they are up to date.
