Abstract

Quality of life is important to care home residents and this includes making the best use of their eyesight. Regular eye examinations and suitable spectacles increase the chances of eyesight remaining good. Unfortunately, some people’s sight will continue to worsen so that even with glasses they have difficulty seeing. However, appropriate help and advice on making the best use of remaining sight should ensure that deteriorating vision does not significantly impair quality of life. Proper eye care, through regular examinations, the provision of spectacles and other optical aids can be arranged for care home residents and this information aims to help care staff.
