Abstract

This decision aid is for women who are pregnant with one baby and have already had one caesarean section to deliver another baby. The decision aid is designed to help women decide whether to plan to have this baby delivered by a vaginal birth or a caesarean section. It is not designed for women who have had more than one previous caesarean section or are pregnant with more than one baby.

This decision aid aims to help women make the decision that is right for them at this time in their pregnancy. Some women do change their preferences about how to have their baby delivered as their pregnancy progresses. Also, sometimes the health of the baby or woman changes during pregnancy and labour, which means the baby is delivered in a different way from a woman's earlier preference.
