Abstract

This guideline aims to assist endoscopists in managing the care of patients with diarrhoea. There are separate discussions on investigative treatments of diarrhoeal illnesses in the immunocompetent patient: flexible sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD), video capsule endoscopy; and on underlying causes of diarrhoeal illnesses in the immunocompromised patient: HIV, Graft-Versus-Host Disease (GVHD).This document describes the role of endoscopy in the management of patients with chronic diarrhoea, although there are brief discussions about acute diarrhoea.
