Abstract

The aim of this commentary is to provide guidance on the quantity and quality of nutrients needed for preterm infants, so as to achieve growth similar to fetal growth coupled with satisfactory functional development. The recommendations relate to ranges of enteral intakes for stable-growing preterm infants up to a weight of approximately 1800g, because most data are available for these infants.
