This project was undertaken to explore how revalidation, as a process, would impact on the different responsibilities of hospital doctors.

The views of over 2600 doctors working in the NHS (80% consultants, 20% SAS doctors) in Scotland and the North East of England are presented in this report and give an up-to-date insight into

  • how doctors use their time
  • their concerns about the effort required to deliver revalidation effectively
  • how they will engineer space in their professional lives given current NHS pressures
