his monograph summarizes current knowledge related to the diagnosis, epidemiology, etiology, and management of Acute Stress Disorder (ASD) and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). The monograph is based on systematic reviews and pivotal trials. Readers are encouraged to consult the recommended readings for more detailed information (Appendix A). The quality of the evidence discussed in this monograph is graded as ‘high’, ‘moderate’, ‘low’ or ‘very low’, following the ‘Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation’ (GRADE) system, which was developed by the Cochrane Center Appendix A is a list of additional readings to supplement information in this monograph or to explore clinical issues that are beyond the scope of this document.
