Abstract

This briefing sheet introduces the notion of ‘Social Marketing’ and considers how it can be used as part of HIV prevention activities with gay men, bisexual men and other men who have sex with men (MSM) in England. It outlines how you ‘do’ social marketing, where it has been used, and where and when it works best. This briefing also considers how social marketing differs from the more traditional sexual health promotion methods which are commonly adopted.
