This guide is designed to help providers of health and adult social care to comply with the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2009 and the Care Quality Commission (Registration) Regulations 2009. These regulations describe the essential standards of quality and safety that people who use health and adult social care services have a right to expect. Part 1 outlines the reasons for producing the guide; the difference services types covered by the guidance and definitions of key terms. Part 2 covers the main guidance which is structure into six areas: involvement and information; personalised care, treatment and support; safeguarding and safety; suitability of staffing; quality and management; and suitability of management. Each area covers the outcomes that people using services should expect, and prompts to help services fulfil these outcomes. The guidance will also be used to monitor registered provides to check they are meeting these requirements.
