Abstract

Carnitine transporter deficiency usually presents with cardiomyopathy and muscle weakness. It responds well to carnitine supplementation and for most of the time patients are healthy.  However infections, fasting and particularly vomiting can lead to serious illness with encephalopathy and hypoglycaemia.
