The emphasis of this guideline is the use of evidence to support and inform clinical practice. It  is the UK’s first guideline in this area and has been developed by experts from the Forensic Forum, which is part of COTSS - Mental Health. It sets a new standard for best practice and provides 20 evidence-based recommendations for occupational therapists working in secure settings.

It helps healthcare professionals gain a better understanding of the role and contribution of occupational therapy and informs patients and carers of occupational therapy interventions available in secure environments.
