Abstract

Previous issues of Pain: Clinical Updates have addressed race, ethnicity, and culture in relation to the experience and report of pain. This issue focuses on racial and ethnic disparities in access to quality pain care. Barriers to pain care related to the patient, the health care system, and the physician, including poor physician-patient communication or flawed physician decision-making, will be described.
