Abstract

The National Children’s Bureau (NCB), in collaboration with Research in Practice (RiP), was asked by the Children’s Commissioner to collate and analyse sources of evidence relating to engagement with children in care and care leavers since April 2015. The purpose of this research was to assess the feasibility of using existing sources for a future State of the Nation report on the views and experiences of children in care and care leavers in England. These children and young people are among the most vulnerable in our society, and they typically have poorer outcomes than other young people. It is therefore especially important that their voices are heard by local and national decision makers.
