In July 2011, the Department of Health published a ten-year strategy and action plan for the prevention of skin cancer in Northern Ireland. Following its launch, a multisectoral steering group was established to implement the strategy, jointly chaired by the Public Health Agency (PHA) and Cancer Focus NI. In order to ensure that satisfactory progress is being made against the strategy’s objectives and targets, in October 2016, the Department, in conjunction with Cancer Focus NI, the PHA and the Institute of Public Health, commenced a mid-term review of the strategy.
