Abstract

Evidence-based recommendations on low-intensity pulsed ultrasound to promote healing of delayed-union and non-union fractures in adults. This involves using an ultrasound probe on the skin at the site of the fracture.

This guidance, along with NICE interventional procedures guidance on low-intensity pulsed ultrasound to promote healing of fresh fractures at low risk of non-healing (IPG621) and low-intensity pulsed ultrasound to promote healing of fresh fractures at high risk of non-healing (IPG622), updates and replaces guidance on low-intensity pulsed ultrasound to promote fracture healing (IPG374).
