Abstract

(2016) Guideline 145: Assessment, diagnosis and interventions forĀ autism spectrum disorders - Full guideline. The Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN) develops evidence based clinical practice guidelines for the National Health Service (NHS) in Scotland. SIGN guidelines are derived from a systematic review of the scientific literature and are designed as a vehicle for accelerating the translation of new knowledge into action to meet our aim of reducing variations in practice, and improving patient-important outcomes.

This guideline updates SIGN 98, published in 2007 to reflect the most recent evidence covering children and young people. The guideline provides recommendations for best practice in the screening, surveillance, diagnosis, assessment and clinical interventions for children and young people with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). It also incorporates evidence and recommendations on assessment, diagnosis and interventions for adults with ASD.
