Abstract

Aims: All people with critical care needs who have communication and/or swallowing difficulties should have access to a timely and responsive speech and language therapy (SLT) service. This position paper highlights the SLT provision that should be available to ensure equity of access for people with critical care needs, and the key role that SLTs should have within critical care teams.

Intended audience: SLT service managers, speech and language therapists.
