Abstract

Expert commentary is provided for a review of 52 RCTs which found that IBS symptoms improved more with antidepressants vs placebo (43.5% vs 66.0%, RR 0.66, 95% CI 0.57-0.76). The study was felt to affirm the role of both antidepressants and psychological therapies in IBS.
