Abstract

These latest reports in the Royal College of Occupational Therapists’ Improving Lives, Saving Money series, are focused on mental health. Our investigations highlight, once again, the invaluable contribution occupational therapists make; in this instance by supporting wellbeing, reducing costs and preventing the escalation of mental health issues. The recommendations in this report offer a wide range of opportunities for commissioners and managers to benefit from the value that occupational therapy brings to mental health services. A third of the 37,000 strong occupational therapy workforce work in NHS mental health services, and occupational therapy has been identified as one of the five key professions for mental health.
